International Patients
Dear Patients,
Dear Relatives,
The University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf has a long tradition in treating international patients. For many years, guests from all over the world have been coming to us for medical treatment.
The International Office is dedicated to the needs of patients who are not registered residents in Germany and are not covered by a German or European healthcare insurance. Our key responsibilities include all organizational tasks regarding inpatient-treatment at the UKE as well as before and after care.
When an international patient decides to come to the UKE for treatment, his expectations are very high. His decision shows great trust into medical progress in Germany, into the UKE-specialists and - last but not least - into the service we deliver.
All rooms have internet-access and multilingual TV. There are only private (1 bed) or semi-private (2 beds) rooms. Patients can order food from different menu selections and we will also provide international newspapers upon request. An interpreter is available to accompany all important examinations and interventions and to clarify any questions you may have.
The International Office acts as point of contact between patients and clinics and secures smooth processes for international patients. We deal with all administrative and organizational matters regarding the patients' stay at the UKE. All inquiries from international patients must therefore be addressed to the International Office so that we can ensure consistent administrative support from the first telephone call onwards up to the return of the patient into his home country.
For further information regarding the process for international patients please also see "Process international patients" or visit our website http://www.uke-io.de/ (English, Russian, Arabic).
