Palliative care consultation team
The palliative care consultation team provides physicians and nurses with advice and support concerning all palliative care questions and issues. Our service is available to all patients admitted to clinics and departments of the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf.
We offer support for e.g.
- symptomatic treatment of pain, dyspnea, nausea, emesis, constipation and other symptoms
- comprehensive treatment planning with focus on physical, psychological, social and spiritual problems and needs
- assessment of the indication for specialized inpatient palliative care and planning of the transfer to the palliative care inpatient ward
- assessment of the indication for specialized outpatient palliative care and planning of the transfer to specialized home care
- information about specialized palliative care and non-specialized health care options
- support for physicians and nurses caring for dying patients and the patients’ relatives
The palliative care consultation team is in charge on working days from 8.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. In addition, we provide a 24 hour – on call-attendance which can be contacted via central service center via 0049-40-74100.
